AN iconic part of Northumberland's landscape was felled overnight at Hadrian's Wall earlier this week.
Northumberland National Park Authority confirmed the 'famous tree at Sycamore Gap' had been 'deliberately felled' at some point on Wednesday night (September 27) or early Thursday morning (September 28).
Here are some pictures of the clean-up operation which has since taken place.
Pictured are National Trust rangers carrying away branches from the felled Sycamore Gap tree.
Also shown are forensic investigators from Northumbria Police examining the fallen tree in their search for evidence.
