Fresh apple juice delighted crowds at Hexham Farmers’ Market.
Despite 2023 not being a bumper year for apples, the popular annual apple pressing stall by Transition Tynedale was awash with volunteers, pooling donations to fulfill the thirst of townsfolk and tourists alike.
Hexham was bathed in sunlight at the event, held on October 14.
Visitors not only experienced the delectably fresh apple juice but had the opportunity to take away a couple of bottles for home.
Transition Tynedale member, Stuart Page, said: "This is always a very popular event, and this year fortunately the weather played its part too.
"We had lots of interest, and plenty of visitors to the Farmers’ Market were able to sample deliciously fresh apple juice.
"It’s a great way of demonstrating how we can make good use of what could otherwise be waste, and also the value of food grown on our own doorsteps.
"It’s also a fantastic social event – there’s always a great feeling of community.
"We’re already looking forward to next year’s event!"
Transition Tynedale, a volunteer-run organisation, is devoted to crafting local remedies for the global challenges posed by climate change and biodiversity emergencies.
