Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, Hexham, has linked-up with Newcastle's Dance City for a slate of dance tasters.
Unveiling a diverse mix of dance taster classes, the initiative is designed to test local demand for regular classes.
The sessions include Boogie Babies for pre-walkers aged 0-17 months; Baby Boppers for walking age toddlers up to 3.5 years; Dance City Workshops for those over 55, and a Contemporary Dance Club for 8-12 year olds.
These sessions will occur on both October 24 and November 16.
Boogie Babies will treat your little ones to a relaxed, explorative class, harnessing music and movement for improvisational play.
These sessions will run from 10.15am-11am.
Baby Boppers will engage toddlers in a fun dance class featuring sensory instruments, dancing, and music.
Baby Boppers will run from 11.15am-12pm.
The Boogie Babies and Baby Boopers sessions are priced at £3 for an adult and child combined ticket.
The Dance City Workshop for 55-year olds and above will run from 1-2pm, allowing people to release tensions and spark creativity through a combination of guided improvisations and a discovery of different styles and techniques.
Late afternoon will find the 8–12-year-old group immersed in the Contemporary Dance Club from 4-5pm.
Here, kids are encouraged to strut their best moves and learn routines to popular music within a fun, relaxed environment.
These afternoon sessions are also priced at £3 per participant.
The taster sessions, which welcomes people of all abilities, will be spearheaded by dance professional Beth Veitch, who was raised in Hexham.
Cheryl Baty, Engagement Coordinator at Dance City, said: “Dance City are delighted to be working in partnership with Queens Hall Arts Centre to offer an exciting array of dance classes to the people of Northumberland.”
Katy Taylor, Artistic Director and CEO at Queen’s Hall, said: "We’re really excited to be presenting these sessions with the Dance City team and to be exploring a way of working together in Hexham. We can’t wait for Beth to get started and to make plans for future, regular classes based on feedback from the tasters”.
Tickets can be booked online at www.queenshall.co.uk or by calling the Queen’s Hall Box Office team on 01434 652477.
