BOTH directions of the A696 have been closed due to a collision on the A696 near Belsay.
Emergency services are currently on the scene now where the incident occurred between a car and motorbike occured shortly before 3.30pm today (October, 23).
Motorists near the route will have to follow a diversion route from Belsay on the B6524 and north of the collision at Kirkhale B6342.
A force spokesman said: "At around 3.30pm today (Monday) Police received a report of a collision involving a car and a motorbike on the A696, northbound just north of Belsay.
“Officers and emergency services are currently in attendance and the road has been closed in both directions.
“Traffic is being diverted from Belsay on the B6524 and north of the collision at Kirkhale B6342.”
