HEXHAM families are donning costumes and getting in the spirit to prepare for the spookiest time of the year.

Halloween in Hexham means the return of the popular Spook Night, which will be held on October 28 and promises families a mix of fairground rides, Halloween fun, and spooky fancy dress.

We asked our readers to share their pictures of the creepy costumes they will wear for Halloween.

Pumpkin carving and an arty party will be held at Hexham Community Centre along with creepy crafts and a slightly scary storytime at Hexham Library, lantern-making at Queen’s Hall and spooky stories and face painting at Cogito Books.

Hexham's Project Escape will offer spooky escape rooms such as Sherlocked: The Case of the Hexham Heads and The Cursed Attic.

Normal admission applies to these venues on Spook Night.

Janie French, from Hexham Community Partnership, said: “There’s a great variety of things to do at Spook Night, whatever your budget. It’s a very popular event with families, so we advise pre-booking ticketed activities. Some are bound to sell out before the 28th.”
