Northern Powergrid has started its annual campaign to prepare the locals for winter.
The winter readiness campaign by Northern Powergrid, the provider for 8 million customers across the North East, Yorkshire, and northern Lincolnshire, will involve emailing crucial advice to over 2.9 million customers, including over 550,000 of its Priority Services Members.
The people are being encouraged to remember the national emergency number '105', bookmark the 'be prepared' webpage, and power cut map.
The initiative also comprises free energy saving advice and reminders to Priority Services Members of the support they can avail.
Head of Customer Services at Northern Powergrid, Louise Lowes, said: "The clocks going back helps people turn their attention to winter and it’s a timely milestone in our preparations.
"Our teams are ready 24/7 to respond and restore people’s power as soon as possible – but we also want to ensure that our customers have the information they need".
Northern Powergrid is also collaborating with a wide range of partners including community groups, local authorities, MPs and resilience organisations for spreading the campaign message.
They have allocated significant investments for digital and radio advertising for the campaign that will run till spring.
