A NEW shop hopes to bring a French flare to a Tynedale High Street.
Stylish and sophisticated interior design shop French & Wilder, owned by Nathan Wilder, on 16 St Mary's Chare in Hexham has opened today (Tuesday, November 7).
The shop is a curated 'treasure trove' of constantly changing homeware and fashion items that marries the elegance of French style with a distinctive modern twist.
Nathan studied fashion and textile design in Paris for three years and has an impressive CV. He worked for Jean Paul Gaultier and prepared costumers for his idol - Madonna but also appeared on the Channel 4 programme Escape to the Chateau. It was also where he got engaged then married his husband, Michael.
Nathan said: "The proposal was such a surprise, and it was such an amazing setting.
"Meeting Dick and Angel Strawbridge was an unbelievable inspiration and this was what really led me to follow my passion and open the shop.
"I hope to showcase my love of French fabrics and decorative elements, creating a variety of unique products that would look beautiful in any home."
Nathan will also be stocking Angel's own collection including items carrying familiar designs from their chateau - the chateau de la Motte Husson.
The shop will be open every day from Tuesday to Sunday and will also stock a variety of items including bags, scarves, cushions, canvas prints and other decorative and fashion items. They will also have some gifts in time for Christmas.
