A SCHOOL community gathered for an Act of Remembrance last week.
Mowden Hall in Newton, Stocksfield is a co-educational and boarding preparatory school and came together on Friday, November 10 to remember the fallen.
The ceremony began in the serene surroundings of St James' Church, Newton, where the school congregated to pay respects in a moment of quiet reflection during the two-minute silence.
A spokesperson from the school said: "The service featured poignant readings, including an excerpt from the Gospel of St. Matthew (Ch 25: 34-40) eloquently delivered by Eleanor F, Year 8. The school was honoured to have Major Squires, RA, who read from the Gospel of St. John (Ch 15: 9-17).
"A moving spectacle unfolded as poppy petals gracefully descended from the sky, creating a deeply emotional atmosphere that resonated with everyone present. The commemorative readings, accompanied by a heartfelt anthem from our choir and hymns sung with unwavering commitment, served as a beautiful tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in conflicts."
