A 32-foot Norway Spruce Tree has been placed in front of Hexham Abbey by EGGER (UK) Ltd ahead of the Christmas lights switch on Friday, November 24.
EGGER has been donating a Christmas tree since 2008 and used a 50ft crane to place the tree on market place, which was supplied by Bray Cranes after arriving from Kielder Forest at 6 am last week.
EGGER’s dedicated Christmas team included Arthur Harvey, Project Engineer and appointed person for lift design; Melvin Fawcett, Garage Team Leader; James Wood, Engineering Works Coordinator; Michael Buchan, from MIBEX; and Kevin Hemmer, from Kaefer.
Hexham Mayor, Derek Kennedy, said “Hexham Town Council has invested in new Christmas lights for the tree and we look forward to the switch on Friday, November 24 at 5 pm.
"We thank EGGER for its annual gift to the town of a Christmas tree, which we will decorate with coloured lights and a lighted star. The tree will be positioned at the Abbey overlooking the Market Place.”
Project Engineer, Arthur Harvey, said: “EGGER is delighted to donate another beautiful tree to the community of Hexham this Christmas. Our experienced Christmas team enjoyed installing the tree and being able to contribute to the town’s celebrations.”
EGGER is donating a festive banner for the Christmas tree's base, which has been created by the children of EGGER employees.
The theme for this year’s banner is Ronald the reindeer, which the children have decorated, and will be displayed on the banner which will be revealed on Friday.
