Northumberland Theatre Company is set to tour Charles Dickens' masterpiece 'A Christmas Carol' across the North East.
The decision to take the show on the road stems from their desire to make theatre more accessible to rural communities.
Last year's adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol' was applauded and generated positive audience feedback, instigating the group to share the pleasure of the performance with a broader audience this season.
The play, which involves a 'small but talented cast', will hit various locations to give rural audiences the opportunity to experience the same show that 'captivated' audiences in Newcastle last year.
The three-person production features Louis Roberts in dual roles as Charles Dickens and Ebenezer Scrooge.
He will share the stage with Melanie Dagg and Dean Logan.
Writer Stewart Howson has adapted and modified the Dickens novella into an family-friendly production.
The tour is slated to commence in Cockburnspath in the Borders on December 1, move through Cumbria and Northumberland and close with presentations in Newcastle, also including a stop at the Prohibition Cabaret Bar.
The Northumberland Theatre Company remains committed to making theatre accessible at spots where availability might be challenging.
"We wanted to reach our rural audience who may have missed out last year in Newcastle. Taking 'A Christmas Carol' on tour is our way of making theatre more inclusive and bringing the magic of Dickens to diverse communities," said Louis, the lead actor, and Artistic Director of the Northumberland Theatre Company.
The tour covers various dates and locations, ending on December 23 and 24 in Capheaton.
Louis stressed the importance of the play during the holiday season, adding: "There's no Yuletide tale more classic than 'A Christmas Carol'.
"It's a long-standing tradition, offering comfort and familiarity. In these challenging times, the story's themes of redemption and family resonate deeply.
"We want families, especially those with limited access to theatre, to share in the magic of 'A Christmas Carol' this holiday season. They will find it is a unique experience that will truly evoke the pre-Christmas spirit for everyone involved."
