Citizens Advice Northumberland is set to unveil its Impact Report for 2022-23 at its Annual General Meeting.

The meeting will start today (December 8) at 1pm, at Newbiggin’s Community Hub.

The charity has seen a substantial increase in those seeking help in 2023, with issues related to cost of living, energy trouble, debt and crisis support.

In 2022-23, close to 30,000 clients were offered information and advice, addressing over 60,000 issues.

This resulted in a direct profit of more than £5,400,000 for the local community, and millions of pounds of debt written off or payments rescheduled.

These figures include help for people in the wider region and further afield through a national debt advice programme led by Citizens Advice Northumberland.

Abi Conway, chief executive of Citizens Advice Northumberland, said: "We have worked harder than ever this year to help people across the county find solutions to problems which can dominate their lives.

“We are determined to continue helping as many as we can, however remote they may be, and will work with our partners and the community to create new opportunities for change.

"We owe a great deal to our dedicated volunteers and staff, whose skills and commitment make a real difference to local people’s lives.”
