Northumberland County Council is offering new apprenticeships following the launch of a Data Academy.
The aim is to improve staff data and analytical capabilities, with over 50 employees already registered on professional apprenticeships by tech start-up Multiverse.
Councillor Richard Wearmouth said: "It is important that as an organisation we invest in our workforce, and as demand for our services increases, it’s essential that they are given the opportunities to upskill."
He praised the Data Academy's potential to strengthen the council's decision-making and efficiency.
Mr Wearmouth added: "The Data Academy will enable the right skills to be put in place at every level of the council, enhancing our ability to give residents a more modern and fit-for-purpose service, in a cost-effective way".
The apprenticeships, which commenced in November, will last for 13 months, covering core technical skills necessary to convert data into insights.
A £600k investment, funded by the government's Apprenticeship Levy, backs this initiative.
Peppa Wise of Multiverse said: "Working efficiently with data is absolutely vital for all organisations - and for local authorities it's essential for delivering high quality services to residents while leveraging public resources in the most responsible way."
The new scheme promises to help the council deliver high-quality, timely services while minimising waste.
