A historic schoolhouse is being transformed into a luxury hotel that will open this summer.
The Duchess High School, a Georgian former schoolhouse, will be adjoined with a five-story modern building to birth Northumberland's latest luxury destination in Alnwick called The Bailiffgate Hotel.
The building's age has caused a number of delays, but set to open in summer 2024, the hotel will provide multiple accommodation types with 48 bedrooms, suites, and apartments on offer.

The Bailiffgate Hotel will also feature a bar, restaurant and a private dining room.
The general manager, Bernard Bloodworth, a former pupil of Duchess High School, said: "While the delays to the hotel have been frustrating, we are absolutely determined to get this right.
"Bailiffgate House holds a lot of memories for the people of Alnwick, and we want to make sure that everything from the décor and architecture to the menus and service exceeds expectations."
