THE Met Office has forecast ice and possible snow showers for the rest of the week.
The cold weather will continue through to the weekend, it said.
Today's forecast (Thursday, January 18) said: "Dry, sunny but very cold for much of the region. Breeziest and cloudier towards the coast with scattered wintry showers and some further icy patches. Severe overnight frosts Maximum temperature 2 °C."
The forecast from Friday to Sunday said: "Very cold Friday, with sunshine but also further sharp frosts, ice and possible isolated snow showers. Becoming markedly less cold through Saturday and Sunday but increasingly wet, becoming very windy."
