Pupils at Queen Elizabeth High School had the opportunity to grill Hexham MP Guy Opperman during a Q&A session.
Politics and history A-Level students were in attendance to discuss topics they are studying, including UK and US government, comparative politics, and political ideologies.
Mr Opperman said: "I was so impressed with the politics class at Queen Elizabeth High School when they came to visit Parliament last year that I had to see for myself what they learn about in school.
"Their passion for politics and current affairs is to be commended."
He also encouraged the students to ask questions about his role as an MP, including balancing duties in Northumberland and Westminster, and the process of parliamentary 'whipping.'
The Q&A session is part of the school's first year offering the politics A-Level qualification.
A course that has clearly ignited enthusiasm given the questions asked, covering topics including government support for the armed forces and Mr Opperman's experience under various Prime Ministers.
Mr Opperman also met with headteacher Graeme Atkins to discuss the school's recent recognition as the highest achieving in Northumberland for 2024.
Announcing his commendation, he said: "Teaching and learning at the school is simply outstanding, and after £37 million of investment, pupils enjoy a brand new building with state of the art facilities.
"It's no wonder it is recognised at the highest achieving in Northumberland."
The session followed on from Mr Opperman welcoming the students to Westminster for a Parliament tour just before Christmas.
