AN additional floor could be built over an existing bungalow.
An agent from Square Box Architecture Ltd submitted a planning application to Northumberland County Council proposing to construct an additional floor on an existing bungalow at The Rise, Darras Hall, Ponteland.
A full description was included in the design and access statement: "Proposed additional first floor over existing bungalow with an additional 5.5m to the rear. Glazed feature front entrance with pitched garage over roof. Render over existing and new walls."
A preliminary bat roost assessment and ecological appraisal were performed to discover if there was any evidence of nesting birds or roosting bats within the building.
No evidence was found of either in the property, 'which was in generally good condition, with few features that would provide opportunities for bats or birds to gain entry. No evidence for substantive use of land within the property boundary by other protected species was observed,' the appraisal said.
It concluded: "The risk to protected species from the proposed development was therefore assessed as negligible."
