Prudhoe will be one of the many stations across the UK to benefit from £1.9m investment work from Northern.
The substantial investment was announced on Friday, February 9, with the aim to enhance passenger comfort at 21 stations within its network.
There will be 35 bench-style seating and wind/rain protection shelters installed across the UK.
Work will start at the end of February and is expected to conclude by early summer.
Craig Harrop, regional director at Northern, said: “Investing in upgrades to stations across the network is extremely important to us. Even small changes like installing a new shelter can have a big impact on our customers using the Northern network.
County Cllr Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, said: “Transport links and improvements to them of any scale are welcomed. Residents, businesses and visitors will appreciate this as we continue to encourage people to visit Prudhoe therefore supporting local business and creating jobs in various ways."
