A MUCH-LOVED Hexham pub has reopened on Valentine's Day after being closed for several months.
John Temple, the new tenant of the Victoria Tap was pleased to see the town's reaction when it was announced that the pub on Battle Hill would reopen today (February 14).
Originally from Stockton-on-Tees, the 52-year-old tells the Hexham Courant about what attracted him to come to Hexham.
He said: "I saw that Stonegate had it up to lease, it looks like a great local pub.
"Running the pub is in my blood as my dad and grandad used to run them and I have had many under my belt too.
"When we announced that the pub was to reopen on Valentine's Day, we were pleasantly surprised to see the big reaction on Facebook.
"We did not want to do any reopening celebrations, so we have just opened up our doors to welcome everyone in, including four-legged friends.
"We plan on putting live music events on - as it is a must for me, and the recently newly refurbished rooms will be online next month.
"I have hired a manager called Ian who has brought in Luke, to assist.
"So, please come down and say hi to Ian and Luke.
"We will also welcome any feedback or ideas."
