Runners in the North East have the chance to take part in the world's biggest half marathon thanks to the British Red Cross.
Despite the ballot now being closed for this year’s AJ Bell Great North Run, The British Red Cross still has some places available to run for them on September 8.
The 13.1-mile track will navigate through Newcastle city centre, crossing Tyne Bridge, and finish in South Shields.
Becky Lynes, challenge events officer for the British Red Cross said: "All #TeamRedCross runners will be raising vital funds to help support people in crisis both here in the UK and around the world.
"Whether it be helping deliver food parcels and medicine overseas following a natural disaster, providing shelter after a house fire or being a friendly voice on the phone for someone experiencing loneliness.
"Your fundraising will allow the Red Cross to be there as the world’s emergency responders."
