Humshaugh’s community theatre group, the Crown Players, are ready to perform West End drama 'Pack of Lies' by Hugh Whitemore.
The production is based on real-life Cold War events in suburban England and will be showcased at the Humshaugh Village Hall on March 7, 8, and 9 at 7.30pm. Rehearsals started around Christmas time.
'Pack of Lies' tells the story of an ordinary middle-aged couple living next to Canadians whose lives are thrown into turmoil when their home is taken over by Scotland Yard to use as a lookout point in their efforts to break up a spy ring.
The pair's lives become increasingly disrupted as Scotland Yard's demands for their help to foil the spy ring increase and when it is revealed who the spies could be, their loyalty is tested.

This 'fascinating' drama questions the balance of power against individual rights amidst lies, deceit, and betrayals. It was first performed in the West End in 1983 and starred Dame Judi Dench and her husband Michael Williams.
Director Diana Linnett said: "After going Round the World in 80 days last year, this play is something completely different.
"Although first written and performed some 40 years ago, its themes are timeless and, sadly, more relevant now than they have, perhaps, been in the intervening years.
"We have enjoyed the challenge that this play has given us in trying to portray the destructive power of living with secrets and lies.
"We hope our audiences will find it as satisfying as we have."
Tickets for the drama cost £10 and can be purchased from Humshaugh Village Shop or on EventBrite.
