A Northumberland business has been given B Corp Certification for its standards in relation to social and environmental performance.

Reheat, a low carbon heat firm in Northumberland, has gained B Corp status, surpassing the benchmark with a score performance score of 88.7 out of 200.

The median score for businesses undertaking the assessment is 51.

The result follows a rigorous assessment across five ‘Impact Areas’ – workers, environment, governance, customers and community – as specified by B Lab, the B Corp verification body.

Ben Tansey, Reheat's managing director, said: "This is a huge day for Reheat.

"I am immensely proud and have celebrated with and congratulated the team, who are the real reason we’ve been able to achieve B Corp status.

"We embarked on this journey knowing our values aligned with the B Corp ethos, but the incredibly rigorous process leading to this moment means we can now demonstrate it.

"B Corp pushes us to be the very best business we can possibly be, underlining our commitment to people and the planet, whilst holding us accountable and placing demands on us to continuously improve - a challenge that we have embraced."

Reheat will undergo recertification in three years, during which it must enhance its score to display persistent progress to B Lab.

Founded in 2011, Reheat is a provider of renewable and low carbon heat and power consultancy, design, installation, service and maintenance for businesses and communities with the ambition of accelerating the transition away from reliance on fossil fuels.

Reheat now forms part of the group of 22 Northeast businesses that have successfully acquired B Corp status.
