WE asked our readers which local kennels were their favourite to take their beloved pets. Here's what they said.

Coming out on top were Frankham Fell Boarding Kennels and Cattery and Home from Home Boarding Kennels.

Frankham Fell Boarding Kennels, in Fourstones, was recommended for its 'lovely' staff and treatment of all animals, from dogs to birds, in their care.

Melissa Holly said: "My dog loves it there. She’s always happy to go and the staff are just so lovely."

Stefanie Rogerson said: "Our little pigs love their holidays there, fantastic service and the best people."

 

Dawn Collinson added the kennels were 'the best by far. Amazing family that runs it. Known them all for years. Genuine animal lovers'.

Home from Home Boarding Kennels in Allerburn was just as highly recommended by readers, who said the kennels provide 'outstanding care' to various animals.

Chris Bayne said: "Home from Home Boarding Kennels. Excellent care of my nervous dog, who comes home really happy after a stay with the team."

Emma Kerridge commented: "Home from Home Boarding Kennels is definitely the best and I wouldn’t take my dogs (or rabbits) anywhere else. My two love going every day whilst I’m at work and it’s become a second home to them as they are excited every time we arrive. The staff are all amazing and go above and beyond."

Trish Urwin said the business has a 'fantastic team and great facilities'.

Karen Dryden added: "Staff are fabulous with the dogs. Highly recommended and I wouldn’t take my dogs anywhere else."

North Tyne Boarding Kennels in Bellingham was another highly recommended boarding business loved by readers including Julliette Harle, Viki Murray, Angie Wanless and Kathryn Davidson Armstrong.

One Facebook review said: "Harris, Hugo and Tilly were in fabulous condition and as happy as pie after their most recent stay, they love staying with you every time and we have total peace of mind when we're away."

Leafields Boarding for Dogs in Ordley, Hexham, received votes from readers including Eleanor Scandle, Gaynor Scandle and Lorna Common.

Described as a 'small establishment', it offers dog boarding and day care service for up to six dogs.

Located in Haydon Bridge, Ridley Farm Kennels was recommended by Zoe E MacLean, Kevin Ferrol and Shirley Nixon.

A Facebook review said: "Our dogs have been a few times during a busy summer and have always been happy to stay. Lovely location, flexible, friendly and helpful - even to the point of helping out with vets while we were away."

Linnbank Kennels in Bingfield was recommended by Sarah Brooks. One Google review said: "A truly fantastic kennels in a beautiful setting. Our little dog, Rosie, loved her stay with Cindy and Nigel whilst we attended a wedding in Otterburn. Warm, welcoming and friendly."
