A FORMER country house and hotel has been sold.
Otterburn Hotel was sold at auction by Auction Estates, Nottingham on Thursday February 22, for £265,000.
The 25 bedroom estate was built in 1870, was described as an 'ideal opportunity' for a developer or investor.
It has a long past of developers and many people are hoping to see the beautiful estate brought back back to life.
In 2002, the hotel was sold to the Angel Group, then it closed without warning in 2012 and was later sold at auction for £300,000 in 2015. Work on the hall was started but stopped suddenly in 2017.
In 2019, the hall was placed under auction for a guide price of £550,000 but was withdrawn before the auction.
Then in 2022, it was again put up for auction at a guide price of £235,000 but received no bids. The parish council at the time had reported that the buyer was currently abroad, and the windows would be boarded up.
The 25,000 sq. foot building is in 'need of a full refurbishment' as it has not been used for many years.
The buyer has not been named but we have contacted them for a preview of the plans for the estate.
