The Allen Valleys Folk Festival (AVFF) will return this September to once again delight North East’s music enthusiasts.
The event, recognised as a highlight in the local music calendar, will be offering folk music from across the globe.
The festival is now in its 11th year and will bring a diverse mix of established and fresh names from the folk genre.
Craig Atkinson, festival chairman, said: "The Festival goes from strength to strength.
"This year’s line-up has lots of broad appeal, with a fabulous mix of styles from traditional folk to world music to techno folk.
"Gender balance, as always, has been one of our guiding principles."
Hollywood actor and composer, Johnny Flynn, will be one of this year's headliners, gracing the festival's Sunday line-up with his blend of folk, rock, and indie sounds.
Mr Flynn, known for his soulful voice and deep lyrics, has gathered a dedicated fan base across continents.
Kathryn Tickell and The Darkening will headline the festival on Friday night.
Their group, appropriately named after the old Northumbrian word for twilight, blends the talents of four North-East England-based musicians along with an Isle of Lewis native, Josie Duncan.
The band's unique sound is dubbed Ancient Northumbrian Futurism.
On Saturday night, the futuristic French duo, TURFU, will take centre stage, showcasing their unique fusion of dancing accordion rhythms and electro beats.
The Rheingans Sisters, presently one of the most visionary acts on the British folk scene, will launch their new album on Saturday afternoon.
The festival will run from September 27 to 29 at various venues in Allendale town, including Allendale Village Hall and St Cuthbert’s Church.
Workshops and dance programmes will be announced later in the year.
The outdoor climax for Saturday evening will be the burning of a wooden sculpture representing the legendary Allendale Wolf.
Advance weekend passes for the festival are currently available for purchase, with tickets for individual sessions set to be released later in the year.
