AN international wood-based material company is reassuring members of the public not to panic if they see emergency services at their site next week.
EGGER in Hexham have asked emergency services to take part in an emergency drill on Wednesday, March 6 that will take the format of a real-life emergency scenario.
The aim of the drill is to evaluate EGGER’s emergency response measures to protect the safety and well-being of employees and the community in the event of an actual emergency, by ensuring they are fully prepared with strong safety protocols in place.
A spokesperson said: "EGGER (UK) Ltd would like to inform the media and the wider local community about this scheduled emergency drill, so that local residents can be assured that this is an exercise only, and no emergency has taken place.
"We would like to thank the emergency services for their assistance in helping to test EGGER’s emergency procedures."
