EARLIER this week we announced that TV chef and one-half of the Hairy Bikers, Dave Myers had died at the age of 66.
The announcement was made by his co-star and “best friend” Si King and several tributes from celebrities such as Robson Green have followed since.
He found fame alongside King, his friend of 30 years, as part of the motorcycle-riding cooking duo. The pair have published more than 25 cookery books.
He reached new fans in 2013 when he took part in Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with Karen Hauer, making it to week seven of the BBC competition.
Myers, born in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, first announced he was receiving treatment for cancer in May 2022, but did not specify what type he had been diagnosed with.
First to comment was Malcolm Wood, who said: "Such a lovely man RIP."
Agreeing with Malcolm, Carol Diamond said: "RIP Dave totally gutted."
Lisa Conelly ,Sally Hassam Hill and Jan Brown said: "Love hairy bikers RIP Dave Myers. Very sad news, rip lovely Dave xx"
Richard Hardisty reflected on how much the presenter mean to members of the public.
He said: "The loss is felt by a lot of people. he always made you feel like he was talking to you directly when on the tv. and seemed like a really genuine lovely person. RIP.
Agreeing with Richard, Jill Thomson adds: "Rest in peace Mr.Myers, a brilliant communicator , great chef and a lovely chap. Sincere condolences to his family & Si."
Irene Stewart also pays tribute and adds: "Loved hairy biker's. Watching them on t.v. all day. They make such delicious dishes. He will b missed by all. Taken too early. R.i.p. Dave. Xx
Tudor Jones said: "So sad . Loved the big guy . Hope Si will carry his memory on and keep cooking with a bike
Sandra Twells agrees with Tudor and comments:"So pleased he got to do another show doing what he loved and spending time with his bestest friend.They loved each other that always shone through in all their shows. R.I.P. Dave you will truly be missed xx"
