One of Europe's leading saxophone ensembles will play at the Queen's Hall Arts Centre this month.
The Ferio Saxophone Quartet will perform on March 10 as guests of the Hexham and District Music Society, with the performance commencing at 3pm.
Joan Peugniez, the society's chair, expressed her delight stating: "We're delighted to be welcoming the Ferios to Hexham.
"They have done so much to promote the saxophone as a distinctive voice in classical music.
"The breadth of their repertoire is extraordinary – and audiences love them."
The reputable ensemble's programme is set to include unique arrangements of traditional pieces by Gershwin, Handel, and Elgar, in addition to pieces composed specifically for saxophone quartet by Andy Scott, Hugo Reinhart, and Guillermo Lago.
Notably included in the performance is Andy Scott's 'My Mountain Top', which is accompanied by a special pre-recorded reading by poet Lemn Sissay.
The Ferio Saxophone Quartet, praised by the Financial Times for their "irresistible exuberance", and Music Web International who called them a "fabulous foursome; bar-raising musicianship and sound", perform with soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones.
Tickets can be purchased at Queen's Hall box office and further details can be found at www.hexhammusic.net/.
