A FISHERMAN is attempting to beat his personal fundraising record this year.
Local angler Richard Philipson, 62, is a self-employed window cleaner from Haltwhistle and raised £815 in 2023 for the Great North Air Ambulance Service.
He raised the money by doing Spey casting demonstrations and casting tuition at the Bellingham Show and by giving casting tuition and river craft sessions for Hexham Anglers Association, which he is a member of.
Richard thanked the organisers of the Bellingham Show and members of the Hexham Anglers Association for their support.

He was inspired to raise money for the service after a member of the Hexham Anglers Association suffered a stroke while fishing on the River Tyne last year.
If any fishing clubs or associations would like to help Richard raise more money in 2024 by doing demonstrations and tuition, he can be contacted at fishingtynes@outlook.com.
