A NEW drink is marking the anniversary of the Sycamore Gap.
Twice Brewed Brew House has launched a Sycamore Gap beer in memory of the world-famous tree which was illegally felled in September of last year.
As well as it being named after the iconic tree, the lager cans also bear a picture of the sadly-departed Sycamore.
The lager is a 'European Pils-style with subtle floral flavours and a touch of malt sweetness', according to the makers. It has an ABV of 4.8 and is gluten free. It is the latest addition to the Sycamore Gap range that includes a pale ale and a gin.
Matt Brown, head brewer at Twice Brewed Brew House, said: “The Brewery is located in the shadow of Hadrian’s Wall and close to the site of the tree and we all shared the shock felt worldwide, when the tree was felled.
"Sycamore Gap lager is a tribute to the tree and the can bears its image. With spring well on the way, it gave us all hope to hear that saplings were growing from the tree”.
The lager is available now from twicebrewed.co.uk or from the Twice Brewed Tap Room Shop with supplies gong to various craft beer retailers across the region.
It’s one of many Hadrian’s Wall-inspired ales brewed at the Brew House, which is located along the military wall at Bardon Mill, Northumberland.
