A NEW scone flavour, a new trial at a horse event and a massive pothole were among the surprise news announcements on social media from Hexham businesses on April Fools' Day yesterday.
A massive pothole outside of The Vault on Hallgate magically appeared on the prankster day - which was reported on by its owner.
Next was Brocksbushes Farm Shop & Tea Room next to Corbridge Bypass, who created a new scone flavour - a baked bean scone.
They said in their post: "Introducing our Scone of the Month: The Baked Bean Scone!
"Perfectly savoury, slightly sweet, and oh-so-satisfying! Who knew baked beans could be this delicious? Come indulge in this unique flavour sensation all month long!"
Hexham Family Chiropractic decided to tell a joke this year and asked others to participate with their own.
Finally, Belsay International Horse Trials introduced a new class this year at their event - a class just for poles!
In their Facebook post, they said: "In response to popular demand, we are proud to launch this innovative new addition to our already very busy schedule at Belsay International Horse Trials in 2024, and we look forward to welcoming enthusiastic grassroots riders to get involved.
"Event director, Laura de Wesselow joins Course Designer, Charlotte Ridley for a course preview of this exciting new concept."
