A GIANT family picnic will celebrate a century of a community resource.
Eastwoods Park, in West Wylam, Prudhoe, will mark its 100-year anniversary with the picnic, from 11am until 3pm on April 13 and 14.
The park will be transformed by bunting made by community groups and local pupils, who have hand-painted pebbles for a century path to be laid at a later date.
The not-for-profit Miners Lamp charity café will be open to buy hot food and drinks.

Free activities include a proggy mat demonstration and a chance to try furniture upcycling, pebble painting and shuggy boats for children. There will be a photo booth area with clothes from the last century to try on.
There will be a history tunnel with artefacts from residents telling the tale of West Wylam people and local history.
Angie Scott, county councillor for Prudhoe North ward, said: “As someone Prudhoe born and bred, I was delighted to contribute to the funding of the Eastwoods Park 100th birthday celebration. I have fond memories of many happy afternoons spent in the park with my sister and grandad, Eddie.
"The 100th anniversary reminds us of the rich history of the area and town. In recent years, under the stewardship of the Friends of Eastwoods Park, it has developed into a wonderful resource for our local residents and I am proud to be associated with this wonderful event. Here’s to its next 100 years.”
County councillor Gordon Stewart, who represents Prudhoe South, said: "These celebrations are so important to the town. The area was neglected for decades, but since 2017, substantial investment has been made as the community has pulled together and created an ever-improving area available for all to enjoy.
"The investment is continuing with a playzone being constructed soon. I am delighted to support the celebrations with a significant amount of funding being agreed upon by Northumberland County Council. I am looking forward to attending on both days and showing off this area which now helps everyone to be very proud of Prudhoe."
A spokesperson for Eastwoods Park and The Miners Lamp Café said: "The Park is so proud to be a winner of so many awards, for the park and for the community work that is done for the whole community. We are eagerly waiting for the Green Park judges for 2024 having been awarded every year for the past three years."
Vintage cars from the 1960s will be on display. Wor Vera will sing on Saturday and on Sunday, when The Gleemen and the Prudhoe Choir and the award-winning Essington Brass Band will also perform.
