The NHS has called for residents to join a team of volunteers dedicated to supporting vulnerable people in the community.
People in Northumberland are being urged to join the Check In and Chat service by the NHS and Care Volunteer Responders.
The scheme supports those struggling with loneliness and isolation through friendly phone calls.

To date, one million phone calls have been made by volunteers across England.
Volunteer Graham Burnett said: "It has been incredibly rewarding to know that I have made a difference in someone's day.
"A simple conversation can make a positive impact."
The NHS has said the volunteering is flexible and managed through the GoodSAM smartphone app.
Deputy CEO of Royal Voluntary Service, Sam Ward, said: "A Check in and Chat phone call with a volunteer has the ability to brighten a person's day, lift their spirits and even improve their wellbeing."
