Northern Powergrid has launched a recruitment drive for its Craftsperson Apprenticeship Programme.

Responsible for powering the daily lives of eight million people in the North East, Yorkshire, and northern Lincolnshire, the company's scheme offers fully funded training.

There are two routes into the programme this year to attract individuals from various career stages and skill levels.

The first, a three year programme, is designed for those just starting their career journey, while the second route, a two year programme, welcomes candidates who already possess industry-related skills.

Andy Bilclough, Northern Powergrid's director of field operations, said: “I started my own career as an apprentice in the power industry.

"Craftsperson Apprentices are at the forefront of delivering a power network to meet the region’s needs, now and in the future.

"We welcome people from all backgrounds to apply and fulfil their potential with Team Powergrid.”

Both programmes offer a blend of practical experience and on-the-job training combined with study at college to achieve the Power Network Craftsperson Apprenticeship.

Successful candidates will receive a salary between £20,293 and £24,945, dependant on experience, from the day they join the business.

Earning potential, once qualified, will be in the region of £50,000pa.

Those interested should apply online before May 31 at www.northernpowergrid.com/careers.
