A WIDOW's fundraiser has raised £2684 for two charities.

To keep her husband's memory alive, Wendy Neal decided to dance from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, at Prudhoe United Services Club to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance and The British Heart Foundation.

Wendy, who also used the event as a celebration of her recent retirement, lost her husband, Peter Neal, who died in June 2021 when he was out running.

"I know my husband Peter would be so proud of us all," Wendy said.

"My children Alex, Abi and I feel his loss every day, but doing events like this in his memory keeps him close and brings a smile to our faces; he would have loved it.

"Loads of people turned up to dance and so far, still a little to come in we raised £2684 .

"The biggest thank you though goes to my amazing team, my mum Margaret, son Alex, daughter Abi, best friends Linda and Alison and my cousin Ruth.

"I couldn't have done it without them all.

"So many people turned up and joined us; it was a real feel-good party atmosphere, and the themed hours definitely helped keep us going.

"I especially loved the children's disco party hour with some fabulous little dancers.

"It was the perfect way to spend the day: doing something good for these charities while having fun.

"I actually don't have too many aches and pains from how long we danced!

"A huge thanks to Prudhoe United Services Club for the use of their beautiful room and the fantastic service from the bar and to John Robson ( Mr Disco man) for the use of the lights and sound equipment.

"I would also like to thank Fenwick Newcastle, Seaside Travel Prudhoe, Balls fish and chip shop, The Falcon Prudhoe, McGee's Prudhoe, FAB Prudhoe, Threadgolds,  No22 coffee shop Prudhoe, The Coffee Tree Wylam, Aldi Prudhoe, Acanthus Corbridge, Sophystakaty's Prudhoe, Spend and Save Prudhoe, Lesley White Jewellery, Prudhoe sweet shop, and Prudhoe Stationery shop for help with printing posters."
