ROTARY PONTELAND is asking members of the public to help them raise £500 so they can create a new Santa's Sleigh after a garage fire destroyed the original.

The Santa’s sleigh, a testament to our community's spirit, was lovingly constructed by one of our members in 2021, using materials generously donated by local businesses.

Each year, the sleigh embarks on a heartwarming journey through Ponteland & Darras Hall, lighting up the streets and hearts of its community. In the past three years alone, it has raised over £1500, significantly impacting local charities.

The much-loved event is something parents and children look forward to seeing every year during the Christmas season.

Rotary Ponteland President-Elect John Cooper said:“ I was saddened to hear that our much-treasured sleigh had been destroyed by fire.

"The sleigh brings so much joy to the children of our area”.

He added:" We have launched a crowdfunding appeal to raise £500 to replace the sleigh and lighting.
