A COUPLE jetted off to Palma, Spain after their 'wonderful' Easter wedding at Langley Castle.

Chris Stopforth and Melanie Hobson finally tied the knot on Saturday March 2024 after meeting several times through work in the late 1980s and then again about 2010.

The pair got engaged on the November 16 2019 at Chipchase Castle near Wark. 

Speaking about the day, Mel said: "Our wedding ceremony was at Langley Castle Hotel which we had exclusive use for the weekend with the reception being held there as well.

"The ceremony was at 3pm with music played by The North East Soirée, it was then followed by drinks and canopies in the drawing room.

"I wore a simple silk chiffon top layer over a crepe dress with diamanté detail at the waist and full length sleeves with cuff detail.

"Our best man was Chris Wain and my bridesmaids were Beth Munro, Lara Munro, Leigh Carr and Marissa Carr. We also had Eleanor Hutchinson as our flower girl.

"The evening meal was at 6pm with speeches before the meal was served and then first dance and cake cutting at 8:30. 

"The favours were made by me , in ivory boxes tied with dark green ribbons were mini eggs as we got married on Easter Saturday.

"The cake was made by Graeme at Sticky Sponge and it was a two tier square cake.

"There was lemon sponge on the bottom and fruit cake on the top.  It was decorated with ivory icing and our initials as used on all our stationery.

"Then we had our first dance which was to 'Groovy Kind of Love' by Phil Collins."
