Age UK Northumberland is offering three new volunteering roles aimed at improving the lives of the over 50s within the South East of the county.

These roles include positions as community ambassadors, exercise instructors, and befrienders.

Each role will be fully supported by a programme of training and shadowing.

Community ambassadors are sought after for their 'deep understanding' of South East Northumberland.

These ambassadors will be integral in promoting the services of Age UK and liaising with their local community.

Volunteer exercise instructors will lead weekly exercise classes specifically tailored to the needs of older adults, offering a chance for older citizens to stay active and maintain their physical wellbeing in a nurturing environment.

Those in this position should be both 'friendly and confident'.

The role of the volunteer befriender will be to engage with community members, providing companionship and a friendly chat over a cup of tea.

Jill Lloyd, head of charitable services for Age UK Northumberland, said: "We’re really excited to welcome new volunteers into these three very important roles.

"Lots of training and support will be provided to make sure that our volunteers have the support they need to make a difference and we can’t wait to welcome them in!"
