A MUCH-LOVED Tynedale event with a sci-fi theme has been hailed a huge success.
Even a shower of rain did not dampen the spirits of those who attended the Allendale Mayfair this year, as hundreds turned out to enjoy the activities and live-music throughout the three-day event.
Organiser Jane Pryde said: "We’re so pleased with how well the fair went this year.
"Saturday was really busy with a great family atmosphere, the inflatable laser-tag and the twister ride were huge attractions for the kids.
"Saturday night’s band was Jason Arnup and the Space Rave, who were absolutely brilliant and quite surreal with an illuminated Rocket-trike riding around and people dressed as aliens and robots dancing in the square to 90s classics!
"It was our second year of also running the mini challenge supported by the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue, and 98 people including many children as young as five, successfully walked the nine miles over field and fell on Sunday morning. We think this is an event that may grow much bigger next year.
"A bit of drizzle didn’t put people off for the bands at the Sunday Sessions including, Jodie Fitzgibbon, Liberty Belle, Stratosphonic and The Cash Cows, and the fancy dress wheelbarrow race was hilarious chaos as usual.
"Lots of volunteers put so much time and effort into making this a fantastic event for the community and we hope everyone had a ball.
"We’re very grateful for everyone’s support and hope that next year will be just as memorable."
