North East theatre company, Kitchen Zoo, is set to delight audiences this December with two new shows.
The company will occupy two performance spaces in Hexham's Queen’s Hall; presenting both a show in the main theatre for over 5s and a show for under 6s in Queen’s Hall Studio.
The main theatre will host a magical retelling of the timeless tale, Jack and the Beanstalk, from December 7 to January 4.
This rendition promises a full plate of fun, with touches of humour, live music, puppets and some surprising twists and turns.
The second show, tailored for little ones and their adults, will light up Queen’s Hall Studio from December 7-31.
The Night Before ChrisMouse invites audiences to join Mouse on a memorable Christmas Eve journey, filled with original music, puppets and plenty of opportunities to 'squeak along'.
Artistic director and chief executive of Queen’s Hall Arts, Katy Taylor said: “We’re delighted to be able to build on our existing relationship with Kitchen Zoo as well as cater to the huge demand for their work locally by commissioning the new shows.
"To be the first venue presenting the productions is really exciting and we can’t wait to see Kitchen Zoo inject their unique brand of humour and magic into the much-loved Jack and the Beanstalk story, as well as presenting a brand-new show in our Studio."
The venue is also raising money through its Theatre Tickets Fund.
Through every £10 donation, a local child is given a chance to experience the magic of theatre, with more than 500 children helped so far.
Emergency Service staff will also be given free tickets on December 7.
Kitchen Zoo co-directors Bob Nicholson and Hannah Goudie-Hunter said: "It may be only May, but we are excited to be returning to Queen’s Hall this Christmas.
"For the last few years, we have been bringing our touring productions to audiences in the town.
"This year is even more exciting as we’re creating two new productions especially for Hexham.
"We can’t wait to share these stories and more with you in December.”
Relaxed performances and a British Sign Language interpreted performance will be available on scheduled dates.
