This category requires competitors to explain their creative work, the process and what inspired them to create it.

Manager Shannon, 27, is up for an award in the British Hairdressing Business Awards after being shortlisted in the Manager of the Year category. She was a finalist in the same awards last year.

"In Hexham, we have a very high standard of hairdressing which is a real asset to the community.

"The awards put us in the league with some of the bigger salons in the country and means we're competing at a really high standard. Hopefully, it will attract new business with people having confidence when they book in with us and in what we do," she added.

The three separate competitions will reveal the winners in London on various dates in June.

Shannon said: "We're quite a young team, it's exciting to see everyone grow in their career and push themselves to be the best."

Shannon added the team hopes to see even more success at the next annual Saks Awards on June 8, which involves direct competition with more than 80 UK Saks salons.

Saks Hexham was a finalist in six categories last year. The team won Saks Salon of the Year in 2023, while Jodie Davis won Advanced Apprentice of the Year and Shannon won two awards; the Special Recognition Award and the Creative Image Award.
