A Tyne Valley author has penned her second book set in Greece, hoping to whisk readers away to the glittering shores of Lefkada.

Jackie Watson's latest book, Saving Elora, joins her Apokeri Bay series, following the turbulent adventures of her feisty Geordie protagonist.

Ms Watson, who originally hails from Cramlington, has experienced numerous Greek holidays, using them as inspiration for her contemporary fiction.

She said: "I loved the idea of setting a story in an idyllic location but then introduce characters who harbour secrets or hidden agendas.

"It allowed me to create some great storylines with a twist or two."

Saving Elora takes readers on a thrilling journey as ten long years have elapsed since protagonist Anna arrived in the serene Apokeri fishing village.

Despite seemingly having it all, Anna is said to have her own carefully guarded secrets and is living a lie.

Unwanted and unexpected visitors threaten to shatter everything.

The author said: "I wanted to crank up the action and create an edge-of-your-seat page-turner.

"Readers will recognise some favourites from the first novel and discover brilliant new ones.

"In Saving Elora, I’ve deliberately pushed characters to their emotional limit and make them face their worst nightmares."

The idea for the Apokeri Bay series emerged from a persistent dream.

One of the pivotal characters in the second book was formulated from a single word in the first.

Ms Watson said: "While editing Apokeri Bay, I had a clear idea about the Saving Elora storyline.

"However, there was something missing and it wasn’t until I re-read a particular sentence, it hit me like a ton of bricks.

"By adding in one word, I’d found what I needed, and Javier Owens exploded into existence."

Saving Elora is now obtainable in paperback, Kindle, and Kindle Unlimited from Amazon.

Ms Watson is currently working on the third instalment and a stand-alone novella set for release later this year.
