A Newcastle department store's shoppers are set to be offered a Michelin-starred dining experience from the end of May.
Critically acclaimed Scandinavian restaurant, Hjem, will be bringing its dining experience to the first floor of Fenwick Newcastle from May 31 for nine weeks.
The award-winning restaurant is best known for its traditional, home-cooked flavours and seasonal local produce, prepared with Scandinavian culinary styles.
Hjem - created by Scandinavian-born Alex Nietosvuori and his Northumbrian wife Ally Thompson-Nietosvuori - is named after the Northumbrian and Scandinavian word for 'home’ and can be found in The Hadrian Hall hotel in Wall.
For their stint at the Northumberland St store, the Northumbrian-Scandinavian duo is promising both a la carte and daily-changing tasting menus.
The strategic partnerships director at Fenwick, Leo Fenwick, said: "We’re delighted to be collaborating with Hjem in bringing their award-winning dining experience to Fenwick Newcastle.
"Alex and Ally have created a menu designed to encapsulate Hjem’s Michelin Star quality to offer something totally unique for customers at Fenwick.
"Partnering with businesses born in the North East such as Hjem is of great importance to us as we constant look for ways to evolve our offer across restaurants and in-store experiences."
Founder of Hjem, Alex Nietosvuori, also shared his thoughts on the special collaboration. He said: "Ally has grown up with Fenwick as the go-to shopping destination in the centre of town.
"Hjem and the store share a lot of values, most notably quality of produce and the highest standards of service.
"Hjem is a small family business in a secluded part of the region, the residency is an opportunity to marry our matching values and bring our corner of Northumberland to Central Newcastle."
The arrival offers the diners of Newcastle the opportunity to sample signature dishes, as well as specials crafted exclusively for Fenwick.
On the menu are creamy Gougeres filled with Doddington cheese, crispy fried chicken served with Kewpie mayo, and chicken liver parfait accompanied by brioche and Pedro Ximenez syrup, to name but a few.
Customers also have the option to pair dishes with a variety of wines, which are also available for purchase at the Fenwick Food Hall.
