A NEW coffee shop has opened at a popular tourist spot on Hadrian's Wall Path.

Northumberland HQ, a speciality coffee bar and owner of Northumberland Coffee roastery, opened at Vallum Farm, East Wallhouses, in March.

The team at Northumberland HQ explained the coffee shop space at Vallum Farm was originally intended to house the Northumberland Coffee micro-roastery, which supplies its own mobile units and other local small businesses.

A spokesperson for Northumberland HQ said: "After setting up on-site at Vallum Farm last summer, we realised a demand for a coffee shop from visitors to the site. From October 2023, we opened our speciality coffee bar to the public from Thursday to Sunday.

"We aim to offer the local community a speciality coffee experience in a welcoming and relaxed environment. We are dog and muddy-boots friendly.

"We also hope the coffee shop will be a destination for those wishing to explore more of Northumberland. We are a natural starting point for the Northumberland 250 route and a popular stop on Hadrian's Wall Path."

Alongside the coffee shop, Northumberland HQ stocks crafts and local produce, all made in Northumberland by small independents.

"It was never our intention to open a coffee shop, but after realising the demand, we thought we could give it a good go.

"Vallum Farm is a thriving location with many exciting new and innovative enterprises on site.

"Feedback to date has been overwhelmingly positive. It's still early days so we expect the space to continue to evolve.

"We take great pleasure in interacting with our customers to find out how we can best serve them and many of these ideas have been taken on board and implemented already. Alongside an extensive coffee menu, we now offer a wide selection of cakes, cold drinks, focaccia sandwiches and gelato."
