A national animal welfare charity is calling for more volunteers to protect green spaces.
More than 1,100 UK nature lovers have joined the RSPCA’s Wildlife Friends initiative since its March relaunch.
Wildlife Friends was originally launched last year as part of the nationwide Big Help Out, an initiative to mark the King’s Coronation.
Wildlife Friends have pledged to take part in a variety of simple tasks aimed at nurturing wildlife in people's own gardens and green spaces - like installing bird feeders or creating bug hotels.
Points are earned by completing tasks and those who do all the tasks throughout the year will win a prize.
RSPCA chief executive Chris Sherwood said: "I am really proud of the RSPCA’s Wildlife Friends programme because it is a real opportunity to engage the public to make a bigger difference for wildlife here in the UK."
