Open Farm Sunday is set to hold its annual event next weekend (June 9).

The nationwide farming open day, organised by Linking Environment And Farming (LEAF), will see hundreds of farms open their gates to the public.

Find the nearest farm to visit at www.farmsunday.org.

LEAF is a charity that promotes and supports sustainable farming to create a resilient food and farming system for future generations.

Presenting people with an opportunity to witness first-hand farming with nature, the event promises learning opportunities about the role of farmers as ‘Guardians of the Earth’.

Curious visitors can explore and understand how our food is produced sustainably and how it helps in environment and wildlife preservation.

The event is said to also answer questions about the significance of hedgerows and wildflowers, and the role of structures like bat boxes and bug hotels on farms.

Several participating farms will also feature the LEAF Marque certificate, indicating their adherence to regenerative farming practices, such as nurturing healthy soil, water protection, nature conservation and wildlife habitat enhancement.
