Andrew, a retired electrical wholesaler, met his 'soul partner' Pamela 18 years ago in The Fox Pub, Hexham while watching the Newcastle v Sunderland football match.

He popped the question while they were out for a meal together.

Andy said there was 'such joy and relief' for the pair, who both live in Hexham, to be happily married.

Andrew and Pamela decided on a very quiet wedding. They had Pamela's mam, Andrew's sister Karen, and her husband Kevin in attendance.

The groom wore a suit from Next while his bride wore a dress, shoes and bag from Phase Eight.

Andrew chose Karen Rutherford, his sister, as his best woman and Linda Earl, Pamela's mother, gave her away.

Flowers - which were red rose posy and buttonholes - were supplied by Watsonia in Corbridge.

"We had 18 happy years and we are very happy to seal them with the gift of marriage," Andrew said.

"She is my soul partner and my life is complete now. The venue of Hexham House was a lovely venue and the registrar made the service with her cheery, upbeat personality.

"Afterwards, we went for a lovely meal and drink."
