Owner Kerry Knight, from Corbridge, was worried she would never see her two-year-old cat Stripes again after he went missing for a month.

She loaned a humane animal trap from Meraki's Small Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation in Hexham, where they found Stripes on June 3.

"We are in the process of finishing building a 20-foot enclosure to keep our babies safe," Kerry said. "I would love to thank everyone involved in any part in getting him home.

"I am beyond ecstatic that he’s home. I watched him be born and thought I’d never see him again. We love our cats as our babies and as much as our 10-year-old son, Kennedy.

"He's like a baby, I love him just as much as I love my son."

The family will build Stripes and their other cats a catio this weekend to keep them safe.
