Families looking for an affordable day out this summer should look no further than the Burgham International Horse Trials.

An adults ticket costs no less than £10, with the event taking place in the Northumbrian countryside from July 24-28.

The trials showcase Britain’s finest horses and riders.

It offers a mix of international classes at levels ranging from CCI4*-S to CCI2*-S, along with national classes for everyone from professional to grassroots riders.

Highlights include Young Event Horse qualifiers and a Thoroughbreds and Ex-Racehorses show.

Sporting action is not all, as there's lots of entertainment, locally-produced food and drink, a dog show, and trade stands.

Event director Craig Anderson said: "Burgham is one of the most popular horse trials in the UK with riders.

"It has the stars and the feel of a major event, but without the associated ticket prices".
