Residents of Stocksfield, Bywell, and Mickley are being encouraged to take part in a door-front garden display competition.
'Blooming Doorsteps', run by Stocksfield Plants and Gardens Society, hopes to bring 'colour and greenery' to people's doorsteps.
The rules are simple - plant a container display at your front door.
The competition features two entry categories: 'Fabulous Flowers' and 'Enticing Edibles', with prizes for the best displays in each.
Scores will be calculated based on originality, sustainability and 'general gorgeousness'.
Spokesman for Stocksfield Plants and Gardens Society, Chris Pentney, the originator of the idea for the competition, said: "We would love to encourage people to get involved.
"It’s something almost anyone could do, whether they have a garden or not - and the more flowers we have out there, the more we help bees and other pollinators – as well as bringing cheer to our own lives with colour and greenery literally on the doorstep."
Judges will consider what makes each container interesting, inventive, sustainable and beautiful.
Registration for Blooming Doorsteps will close on June 25, with final judgement scheduled for the second half of July.
Entry is free, and can be completed via https://forms.gle/R8krGYCqrMnAVWa49, or via an email request to stocksfieldpg@gmail.com.
