A hustings event will take place in Hexham involving election candidates this week.

Churches Together in Hexham has arranged a General Elections hustings that will start from 7.30pm on Sunday, June 23.

The free, unticketed event will take place at Hexham Trinity Methodist Church and will also be live-streamed via the church’s Facebook page.

The public can submit questions for candidates in advance to hustings@hexhamtrinity.org.uk. Five candidates have agreed to take part.

This includes Joe Morris of Labour, William Clouston of the Social Democratic Party, Dr Nick Cott of the Liberal Democrats, Guy Opperman of the Conservatives and Independent candidate Chris Whaley.

Nick Morphet of the Green Party declined the offer.
